This was a really nice ice fishing tent in 2008/09 and the 2009/10 models are now even better at a MUCH lower price! New for this season is the built-in, nicely designed zipper flap that blocks wind, reduces noise and blocks out even more light for my spearing buddies. The Clam Command Post pop-up is much like the Eskimo Quick Fish 6 in dimensions and weight but Clam does use heavier cloth and it is a little bigger. Other differences are that no Clam windows peel off and Eskimos do. However, Clam appears to use a more flexible plastic so collapsing the windows doesn't seem to affect them in the cold.. The quality of stitching and overal construction is very neat and appears to be precisely made. The material Clam uses peels off more easily than other tents when frozen to the ice after a long day of fishing. I've used a lot of Clam ice shelters and feel that they do offer better overall quality in materials, but unbelieveably, they are similarly priced to Eskimo pop-ups although a little bigger in size overall. The cloth Clam uses is definitely a little more pliable and less stiff which makes for easier setup and take down, especially after you've been frosting it up inside while breathing in there all day long.
Another cool use: The US Pond Hockey Tournament used the Base Camp to keep referees and tournament officials warm in sub-zero temps. These all make GREAT warming huts for snowmobile races, conservation officer checkpoints, outdoor events in late fall, early spring and anywhere you need a roomy, 1-minute-set-up of a shelter to get out of the wind, snow, and even rain.
