Joe,
Just wanted to drop a line and say that my new Souris River Quetico 17 that I purchased from you over the internet last December is a fantastic canoe …. Funny, it’s everything you said it would be. It’s been to

I love the new
canoe! In fact, I'm going to sell my Mad River - AND my
Sundowner so I can purchase another Souris River. Did you recommend
the
Quetico 17 for a solo/lighter trip canoe? [snip] I will get
info on my canoes and have you list them. Hope your summer is
going great!

Dear Redrock:
I picked up my
Souris River Quetico 17 canoe today, what a beautiful work of
art. Very finely made and polished. I am pleased with the product
and it
arrived safely in your bubble wrap to Macon, Georgia. I can hardly
wait to
try it out this weekend (the weather has been sunny and in the
80's here).

Hello my friends,
This past July I purchased a Quetico 17 Carbon Tec model
canoe with the gold trim package. This
purchase was made at the Red Rock Outfitter's North East of Ely,
Minnesota. The canoe is absolutely
wonderful. For the lack of having a partner for much of the time
this canoe was outfitted with clamp on rowing
accessories which allowed me to travel at high speeds and long
distances with a smile on my face the entire
time. My grown son and daughter had no prior experience in any
canoe. Both of them learned quickly and we
all enjoyed the canoe with one kid in the front, one in the back,
and the Old Man in the middle with oars. We
enjoyed the canoe all the way up until the lake that we live on
froze over. Some of my closest friends enjoyed
this canoe with me too. Some of them are experienced canoe folks.
It was so exciting not to say anything
about the performance until we got underway. You should have
seen the smiles. Now this beautiful canoe is
hanging in my living room all decorated up for the Christmas Season.
I wish to commend you folks for building a top-line canoe
that is just worth every penny spent on it. The
quality is like nothing that I have ever had experience with before
in any kind of water craft. As for the beauty
of this unit, well... it is the reason why the rascal is being
displayed as a show piece right in my living room!
Thank you so very much for building seriously well built and beautiful
canoes!

I purchased a
quetico 17 in carbon-tec from you last november and I just wanted
to say "I love it!" the weight is wonderful as well
as the handling. I really liked the stability when I took it goose
hunting. It was a very stable while shooting. I am looking forward
to ricing in it next year.
Me and my partner were ricing on a lake last year and another
couple of guys were out there at the same time. We both riced
all legal hours in the same rice bed but at the end of the day
when we went to the landing they had about 150lbs of rice compered
to our 60lbs. The only difference was we were using a 17ft aluminum
square stern canoe and they had a quetico 16 in kevlar (me and
my partner still finished the year with over 1140lbs green rice)
which happend to be much more nimble in the wind. The more I found
out about your canoes the better they looked. I must say I do
not regret buying one and have recommended it to several people.

Hello Joe! It's
been a great canoeing year down here in Louisiana (not
canoeing season, we canoe 12 months a year)!
I really can't
describe to you how much I love the Quetico 17 you sold me.
Although, sometimes I wish it were an 18.5. But then, at other
times, I
wish it was a Tranquility. It gets a little crowded with 3 adults,
two
kids, and a dog on day trips and it always "seems" a
little big to take out
solo.
We've been out
quite a bit this summer. The canoeing down here is really
varied. We've got lakes lined with cane and flooded cypress forests,
bayous
running deep and slow with lots of wildlife, marshes you need
a GPS to get
out of (no landmarks), dark swamps with moss-draped cypress, undeveloped
ocean coastlines, primitive coastal bays, and sandy forest-lined
rivers.
Yesterday, we
took on our first river in your canoe. It's located about an
hour north of here. Our rivers in Louisiana are sandy bottomed
with huge,
beautiful sandbars on the inside of every bend. The crowds were
out in
force yesterday and we almost didn't put in. But then we decided
to see if
we could paddle UPSTREAM. What a great choice. With Peter's
paddles and
your Q-17, we were able to make excellent headway against the
current. As a
result, we had the whole river to ourselves. We did not see anyone
after
rounding the first bend. What a WONDERFUL DAY!
The recent rains
have left a lot of downed timber in the deep water on the
outside of the bends. We had to line through 3 or 4 sections
and we often
had to paddle in the shallows near the sandbars. We were usually
paddling
in water less than a foot deep. When we could stay in deeper
water, we had
to slide over a lot of submerged logs. We never once felt unsteady
when
striking a hidden log. The canoe draws little water, stays incredibly
stable, and is light and slick while lining.
I still don't
know what canoeing the BWCA is like, but this canoe was MADE
for South Louisiana!!!
Anyway, I was
thinking of you and wanted to thank you once again for selling
me this marvelous canoe.

Excerpt from Mike Lamothe as he paddled a 1000 mile solo canoe trip in a Souris River Canoe and just crossed Lake Winnipeg the 11th largest lake in the world - July 2002
...My 40 lb. kevlar canoe from Souris River Canoe is amazing. I've never seen such a light canoe be so sturdy. Launching, beaching, and loading on rocky beaches that are nearly always in wave agitation has caused it to be pounded on rocks a lot more than I ever anticipated. It has taken it all with only cosmetic scratches. I has some leaks initially but that has all been solved. I have a centre and a rear seat that I use alternately as wind and comfort dictates. Thanks Keith.... Mike the Voyageur
